Coach
Greatman is a dedicated chess coach and competitive player with a FIDE rating of 1651 and a Chess SA rating of 1726. He began playing chess at the age of 12 and has since represented his high school, JMC, and the University of the Free State, where he has captained the USSA team for four consecutive years.
His achievements include winning SAJCC U16 Gold, multiple SAJCC team medals, qualifying for the SAJCCC and the World Individual Schools Chess Championships, and being named UFS Chess Player of the Year three times. Greatman’s coaching philosophy centres on building strong fundamentals, believing that steady, consistent improvement is the key to long-term success.
